William Troost-Ekong was born on September 1, 1993, in Haarlem, Netherlands, to a Nigerian father and a Dutch mother. His father, Joseph Troost-Ekong, was a lawyer who had moved to the Netherlands from Nigeria in the 1970s. William’s mother, Eleanor, was a Dutch citizen.
